Project at a glance
Communities living in polluted or disadvantaged areas – whether due to industrial activities, resource extraction, warfare, or other disruptive forces – often struggle to access independent data on environmental damage and human rights violations. Community-based monitoring (CBM) and citizen science offer a potential solution to this problem. MARMOT (Monitoring and Acting for human Rights, environMent, and sOcial impacT) aims to empower communities affected by pollution or other human rights violations by providing a curated selection of tools and educational material to enable adults to carry out independent monitoring and become actors of change.

Our Core Objectives
Shaping MARMOT Together
MARMOT is a civil society initiative funded by the European Union through Erasmus+ programme with the purpose of developing a digital platform with information and tools for communities affected by environmental issues and human rights impacts. This survey is the first step in the development of MARMOT and your input ensures that the platform reflects the needs of civil society actors and communities affected by negative environmental and human rights impacts.
